| HudBay Minerals Inc. engages in the discovery, production, and marketing of copper concentrates containing copper, gold, and silver, and zinc metal and zinc oxide in North, Central, and South America. The company primarily owns three underground mines, including 777 mine in Flin Flon, Manitoba; the Trout Lake mine near Flin Flon; and the Chisel North mine near Snow Lake, Manitoba. It also holds land positions of approximately 400,000 hectares in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, other land holdings in Guatemala, Yukon, Chile, and New York. In addition, the company operates ore concentrators and zinc production facilities in northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan; a zinc oxide production facility in Ontario; Fenix nickel laterite project in Guatemala; and the Constancia copper project in Peru. It has a joint venture with Aquila Resources Inc. for the acquisition of Back Forty project, an advanced stage exploration project evaluating a zinc and gold-rich VMS deposit in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula; and a joint venture with VMS Ventures Inc. for the exploration and development of copper-rich Reed Lake deposit and a series of adjacent mineral properties held by VMS in Flin Flon Greenstone Belt, Manitoba. The company was founded in 1992 and is headquartered in Toronto, Canada. |
