It operates oil sands related assets located in the Athabasca oil sands region of northern Alberta. The company involves in the land acquisitions, delineation drilling, and evaluations in the primary asset areas of Dover, MacKay River, and Hangingstone. As of December 31, 2008, the company owned approximately 1.3 million net acres of oil sands leases with estimated contingent recoverable resources of approximately 6.9 billion barrels of bitumen. Athabasca Oil Sands Corp. was incorporated in 2006 and is headquartered in Calgary, Canada.
